Abstract:Even though website adoption within SMEs in the United Kingdom in widespread, the e-commerce adoption seems to be declining or static. In this article the factors causing conflicts btw. exporting SMEs and their intermediaries and the impact of website and e-commerce adoption on channel relationships are discussed. In understanding channel relationship scenarios a combination of authoritative control and manifest conflict, trust and commitment is useful. It is concluded that Internet can have both constructive and destructive affects on channel relationships.
