Abstract: | Attendance (hereafter as: att.) totals are reported by museums and other institutions. However, reported att. figures are frequently inaccurate (here as: inacc.) or even exaggerated. This article proposes that the reasons for att. level exaggeration (here as: exg.) and the negative consequences of inacc. be brought out into the open. The need for a concerted effort to break the cycle of exg. and inacc. is discussed with suggestions for the process initiation. |
