| Abstract: | This article examines, using Skype as a case point, the impact of integration of disruptive innovations and assesses whether the resultant innovation can have a dramatic effect on new and existing markets, and the resultant technology paradigm. Skype has created a new operating model by fusing peer-to-peer computing (p2p) techniques and voice-over-Internet-protocol. The paper discusses if such integration of disruptive technologies leads to a 'marriage of equals' or whether it leads to dominance by a single technology. |
