Abstract: | The concept of culture and its dimensions have been dealt in the existing literature by several authors. One important subject matter that should be explored further is the Halls (1981, 1976) idea about high- versus low-context cultures. In addition, the e-commerce strategy is considered in the light of high- versus low-context organizational cultures and the levels of internationalization and technological orientation of the firm. Results of the survey conducted among 525 employees and managers in financial services and textile manufacturing firms show that high- versus low-context values and perceptual and demographic characteristics of employees do affect the attitudes towards e-communication. Firms internationalization, technological orientation as well as the organizational culture regarding high- versus low-context practices affect the adoption of e-commerce strategically. |
