Abstract: | The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) was fundamentally reformed in 2003. From 2005, farmers will receive decoupled income support payments instead of production (here as: prod.) premiums. This study describes how the reform fits into the European Union (EU) strategy of making agricultural prod. more environmentally friendly (here as: e-f.) by concentrating on the financial aspects of the reforms. Using a sector model, it is shown that the reform will further decrease agricultural outputs, reduce farm inputs, etc. ... and make e-f. management practices more attractive for farmers. |
