Abstract: | The negotiations of Turkey's accession to the European Union have evoked among other things a value-related debate. This article provides factual grounding into the debate in a form of a mixed-methodology study on moral reasoning, where individual's arguments in Austria and Turkey are compared. Major consistencies and number of differences were both found. Although the results suggest that moral reasoning of young, well-educated urban individuals is highly similar whether they are from western Christian or eastern Islamic countries. |
