Abstract: | In this study the author aims to identify the emerging perspectives of knowledge and to develop a framework to show the interrelationships of the varying knowledge types. The methodology of this study is done first through a literature review to examine how "knowledge" as a main concept has been presented and understood in previous knowledge management publications. Findings of the study show that knowledge is viewed in four emerging and complementary ways. The epistemological, ontological, commodity and community views are focused and discussed in this study. The author finds that knowledge management is still a young discipline and thus still the literature has different, occasionally even contradicting perspectives of knowledge. |
