Abstract: | According to religious individualization thesis, the social significance of religion does not decline in the modernization process. Instead, more subjective forms of religiosity replace old institutionalized forms. The topic is empirically investigated by using the information on Germany from the past 50 years. The main conclusion is that the rise of individual religiosity is not significant enough to compensate the decline in institutional religiosity. |
