Abstract: | Hungary has come closer to Western societies since the removal of the Socialist regime. It has adopted western values in environmental issues such as corporate social responsibility and environmental management systems (hereafter as EMSs). This paper offers a review of current state of Hungarys environmentally-conscious company management. A quantitative empirical survey revealed that economic and competitive reasons motivate Hungarian companies to introduce EMSs. The results show that EMSs have a positive impact on corporate image although it seems that environmental management is not in direct connection with corporate success. |
