Abstract: | The aim of the study is to find out whether destination attachment (here as: d.a.) and destination image (here as d.i.) are determinants of intentions to patronize a travel destination among first-time visitors and repeat visitors. A conceptual model incorporating d.a. and d.i. to patronizing intentions is tested. The results suggest that first-time visitors patronizing intentions are mainly affected by d.i., and repeat visitors' intentions by d.a. Thus is revealed that previous research has overlooked the matter that the tourists' patronizing intentions differ depending on the relationship they have with the destination. The study provides evidence for the need to situate destination choice studies in the transactional-relational continuum. |
