Abstract: | This article explores the forms of political mobilisation materializing in East European politics as 'post-peasant populism' (here as: p-p-pop). Focusing on grassroots mobilisation, an analysis of the annual Corpus Christi ritual in the city of PrzemyÂśl, south-east Poland, serves as the basis for an exploration of the theme of socially sensitive p-p-pop. as an alternative to post-socialist capitalism. This populism relies on the politicisation of the rural past, being currently influenced by 'Europeanisation'. |
