Abstract: | This is an introduction to a special issue on the the theoretical directions for work-family balance research. The articles displayed are: 1) An expert commentary on the role work-family crossover by Westman, Brough and Kalliath; 2) The culture-sensitivity of work-family balance theories are reviewed and a cultural framework for consideration is advanced by Powell; 3) A longitudinal research design which includes both objective and subjective health indicators is showcased by van Steenbergen; 4) Current discussions on the impact of organizational climate on work-family balance are progressed with a specific focus on organizational fairness by Taylor, DelCampo and Blancero; 5) The influence of family-friendly work practices (FFWPs) of some multinational corporations in HongKong on organizational performance is reported by Ngo, Foley and Loi. |
