| Abstract: | This study analyzes the relationship between innovation and demographic rotation in organizational populations, using the data collected on the evolution of the motorcycle manufacturing industries in Great Britain, Germany, France and Italy between 1895-1993. The results corroborate selected aspects of the theoretical distinction between compete-enhancing and compete-destroying innovation. Survival experience of organizations in different countries are roughly similar, but relevant elements of differentiation are also found, with respect to e.g. radical technological innovation. |
