Abstract:In this study of volunteer tourism, compared are the values affecting participants' perceptions of and attitudes toward (here as: p-of-a-t.) an alternative spring break program with the values affecting their p-of-a-t. their previous and ideal spring breaks. Participation in this written survey was optional, and the students were offered an alternative exercise to get the same extra credit as those participating. 76 undergraduate students took part in this study. It is shown that the values of fun and rewarding are associated with different preferences affected by participants' levels of the individual difference factors (here as: i-d-fs.) Volunteer Orientation (by Mowen and Sujan, 2005) and Diversity Seeking (by Brumbaugh and Grier, 2009). It is suggested that these i-d-fs. are fruitful variables for segmentation in the volunteer tourism industry.
