Abstract:In this article, it is examined from an international comparative perspective what kind of an impact the globalization process (henceforth as: glb-proc.) has on individual life courses and employment careers in modern societies. Empirical results are summarized from the Globalife ((Life Courses in the Globalization Process) research project. It is demonstrated that the glb-proc. has had diverse effects on different phases of the life course. The Globalife project results indicate that glb. triggers a strengthening of existing social inequality structures. Furthermore, glb. has not led to the same outcome across various modern societies. Glb. seems to be distinctly filtered by deeply embedded national institutions.
