Abstract: | The subject of flows and dynamic interdependencies between system elements of various kinds is dealt by the sciences of industrial ecology, complex systems, and adaptive management. As such, the understanding of the evolution of industrial ecosystems could be increased by the tool kit of complex systems science. This article illustrated how agent-based simulation, an important tool of complex systems science, can aid to find the elements of an industrial ecosystem that could bring more eco-efficient outcomes. |
