| Abstract: | The question of capital flows across national boundaries is discussed. The importance of the state investment protection policy is stressed. Historical developments in the international law are outlined. Changes in the world economy and policy requiring modifications in the norms are analyzed. The Friendship Commerce and Navigation Treaties are described. Other investment protection agreements are summarized. The Australian situation is outlined. Advantages and disadvantages of treaties are listed and analyzed. In the future Australia may assume the role of a significant exporter of capital. A list is presented of bilateral agreements. |
