Abstract: | The Operational Research Group of the British Export Credit Guarantee Department applied its modelling skills to meet a variety of decision-making and information needs. One key task of specialists in supporting financial planning is to help maintain the relevance of the planning process. There is an obvious need for flexibility, and this is probably the key feature of the group's continuing contribution. The model contributes to the department's quarterly financial review and annual business plan. The output falls into three broad categories: forecasts, monitoring information, and sensitivity and "what-if" analyses in which the user can manipulate variables or look at different scenarios. |
