| Abstract: | An analysis of the shareholder wealth effect of voluntary corporate liquidation in the extreme sell-off form. The study reviews the liquidation announcement of a sample of 37 firms in the 1970-1982 period that was associated with statistically and economically significant stock price increase. The types and rationale of corporate divestiture, empirical evidence, sample selection, methodology and empiric findings are outlined with three Tables and two equations. |
