Abstract:The Japanese economic miracle is discussed. In spite of the many drawbacks Japan was able to build up a competitive economy in a relatively short time. P. Drucker's opinion on the secrets of this high speed development. The important role of active marketing as well as aggressive behavior of Japanese firms in new markets are stressed. A list of principles applied by Japanese to capture markets is set forth. The main characteristics of the so-called total competition are discussed.
