Abstract: | Hospital federations are a form of multiorganizational collaboration in which a management group coordinates and directs the activities of three or more organizations. A life-cycle model of federations is introduced that focuses on factors that influence the transition from one stage to another. It is concluded that though the proposed model can be a useful blueprint for managers concerned with forming, joining, or guiding a federation, research is needed to test the hypotheses introduced here. |
