| Abstract: | A strategic Management Information System is one that supports or shapes a business unit's competitive strategy. It is characterized by its ability to significantly change the business performance, by its contribution to a strategic goal, and by its ability to fundamentally change the way a company does business. Strategic Management Information Systems are capable of providing an organization with a competitive edge. The factors to be evaluated: the potential role of MIS in a strategic system; how can the expertise available in the functional areas be integrated into a strategic system. |
