Abstract: | The fact that contemporary decision makers in the private sector frequently do not want to pursue only profit maximization complicate the problem of decisions. As a consequence, many models and methodologies for multicriteria decision-making have been developed. Goal programming, which is perhaps the oldest methodology in the field of multicriteria decision-making, overcomes many of the limitations of the other methods. It arrives at an optimal solution, but one of its major weaknesses is that the decision-maker must specify both goals and their relative importance a priori. To overcome this problem, the Delphi method, a systematic procedure to evoke expert opinion, is proposed to be conducted prior to goal programming. |
