Abstract:With increasing frequency, corporate managers are contending with telephone calls from unemployed colleagues. Too often these requests are unproductive. The reasons why these calls have increased as well as the inappropriate reactions are analyzed. Suggestions for appropriate replies are made. Suggested actions - including proactive measures - are listed. Many unemployed executives are qualified to perform special, short-term assignments. Discriminations against unemployed are criticized. Opportunities are mentioned which are open to employers when they are inclined to attract qualified applicants.
