Abstract:An attempt is presented to overcome the problems posed by the transplantation of Action Learning techniques into the small business environment, where there is an urgent need to improve the decision-making skills of the owner/managers, by the use of a realistic simulation entitled "Venture Forth: Expand Your Business in Exetown". Representing a typical quantum leap situation it provides the basis of an experience incorporating all aspects of a conventional Action Learning programme. Responses from those who have participated in Venture Forth are encouraging and offer the hope that small businessman may learn to appreciate the usefulness of the concepts that in textbooks are often drab.
