| Abstract: | The development of the electricity sector in France in the late 19th century and early 20th century was much slower than in Germany, USA and UK - its major competitors. After analyzing the technological and economic reasons for this, it is examined how improved management of the electricity sector has narrowed this gap, in particular through the adoption of new technical systems and the intervention of financial intermediaries. Management played an important role in the development of this sector in France since the mid-1930s. |
