Abstract:Analyses of inequalities (I) in economics are concerned mostly with discrepancies in the standard of living among various social, professional and minority groups. This type of I can be found in various economies irrespective of their level of development and of their type of economic and political systems. I is present in systems in which the principle of equality is included in the ruling economic and political doctrine (in centrally planned economies) and in those which do not stress this point explicitly market economies). In a market economy I may be natural state of affairs resulting from the functioning of economic mechanisms, in the centrally planned economies equality is declared to be one of the basic aims of the economic system.
