Abstract: | A case history is described. In 1983 Renault decided to replace its R9 and R11 models. Three periods of development are dealt with: trying to find new information for improvements in style, profitability and image of the automobile; testing the proposed style among the customers with application of exposition-tests and interviews; implementation of the necessary improvements, optimization, and launching the product to the market during 1987-1988. A number of methods employed throughout the innovation process are reviewed. The results of product development are summarized and conclusions are drawn. |
