Abstract:Warnings labels have become a common feature in the American marketplace, required by statute for such products as cigarettes, over-the-counter drugs, and products containing saccharin. But alcoholic beverages continue to be sold with no message to consumers. Symptoms and serious consequences of the increasing alcoholism in the US had given a lift to the movement for warning-label legislation. Arguments of the industry are dealt with and refused. The absence of health warnings on beer, wine and distilled spirits creates special product liability risks for the alcoholic beverage industry.
