Abstract: | The importance of good labor-management relations for US industry is outlined. The position of the US industrial sector in world markets is characterized. Some of the bargaining changes and new approaches in conflict management are described: gainsharing, employee participation, employee identification with company's productivity and profit objectives, innovative cooperative programs with the unions etc. Some instructive examples are mentioned. The common features of cooperative programs are summarized. Some characteristics of legal background are highlighted. The need of tailoring benefit, security packages to workforce is emphasized. |
