Abstract:Competitive analysis is still not aimed at understanding the "human element" of competitors. This is particularly true of companies that fail to identify emerging or potential competitors. All companies must face the reality that competitors of the future may be significantly different from those of today. So companies must have a monitoring system to anticipate these new players; however, they should not get too involved before it is necessary. Strategic maps are suitable tools for analyses. Such analyses should be selective, concerning the type and depth of analysis.
