Abstract:The majority of small businesses do not fail for the lack of financing or poor management. They fail because their owners lacked total commitment to their product or service; they couldn't fulfil each of the five items identified as essential to business success. These items are the following: Do you really like your product (or service)? Are you willing to be personally involved? Are you willing to stick with the business? Do you have clearly defined markets? Do you pay attention to detail? The goal should be to meet a customer need by providing a better product or service than anyone else can. At last there is a warning what should be avoided so that the successfully started small business could survive.
