Abstract: | Any discussion of privatization should include business management issues such as the need for a new corporate strategy and for careful selection of executive personnel. It is the aim of both public and private sector management to maximize long-term profitability. However, managers in the public sector face the additional burden of having to promote the government's objectives for their industry. Before privatization, the overall long-term prospects of the company need to be examined. Management requires a long-term vision so that they are able to prepare strategies for managing privatization. A privatization strategy, closely linked to overall business strategy, must provide a clear process for providing a new direction for the company. |
