| Abstract: | In political discussions free market economy and environmental protection are often contradicted. But it is not the economic system that causes the destroyal of nature but the fact that there are no property rights. Thus the price system does not protect the environment, which is a free good. The problems of the Swiss forests are discussed, where the negative external effects are not internalized causing deficits in Swiss forestry. |
