Abstract: | Media magnate Holmesa Court had orchestrated a takeover battle for Australia's largest company. BHP (Broken Hill Proprietary); and he was considered that country's pre-eminent corporate raider. The main vehicle for his business interests, Heytesbury, had been a private company but later a public takeover was performed. He runs his companies along business lines combining business with pleasure. Any trading-based situations - in equities, currencies, interest rate instruments, for instance - are never done as a means in themselves. It is always because there is some relationship with downstream activities. His financial skills are best seen in his ability to sell his shares for much higher price than other shareholders. |
