Abstract:New York Racing Association NYRA has pioneered the use of satellite for simulcasting of horse races. Today about 11o parlors and tracks in New York transmit races from Galaxy III satellite. In 1985 Simulcast Enterprises was formed to run the network. All races transmitted via satellite must be encrypted by law. Simulcast market isn't limited to the U.S. In Europe, Satellite Racing Development Ltd. was set up to provide live coverage of betting-related events to betting shops.
