Abstract:Advertising Supported Allied Programming /ASAP/, the UK/US joint barter venture will be based in London. The venture hopes to capitalise on the single European broadcasting market in 1992. ASAP will have to fight against European hostility to barter, which is often regarded as advertiser's interference in programming. Barter is banned in the U.K under IBA guidelines, but there are no regulations covering barter in pending EC legislation.
