Abstract:Some managers refuse to believe that the most important aspect of communication is not what is said or written, but the perception that is left by the communicator. Because of this perception factor, it is important for the supervisor to be not only honest but also thorough in communications. Many managers mistakenly provide employees with limited and inaccurate facts. This only fuels the fire of mistrust. The end result is a work atmosphere that is demoralized and fragmented. Communication managed positively avoids the us-versus-them perception seen so often in tight-lipped organizations.
