Abstract:Instead of management training standing alone, it should be part of a total development operation that's linked to the whole training process. Although that's not a new thought, experience shows that in most situations, management training isn't connected to other developmental processes, such as career pathing, special assignments, selection procedures, appraisals and reward systems. To accomplish such a feat, companies must develop a systematic approach to determine their managers' developmental needs and then translate those needs into a total development process.
