Abstract:The concept of the socialist industrial economics (SIE) is defined, its productive and ideological function is explained. The origin of an industrial economics that differs from a private economy and corresponds to the property and production conditions of the GDR is discussed; "Economics of the Socialist Industry" appears in 1952. The difference between industrial and macroeconomical return, the importance of effectivity, and other complex problems of socialist organizations and of the process of reproduction are identified. When in the 1970s "Kombinats" were formed, SIE researched their dynamics and practicability. A new phase of SIE begun with the appearance of computers.
