Abstract: | Economists view environment degradation as a case of market failure which should be corrected by appropriate regulation. This regulation is opposed however by rent seeking pressure groups. GATT is a vehicle of dispute settlement in case of conflict and thereby contributes to a more efficient, rule oriented and not power oriented environmental policy. |
