Abstract: | The main tasks of this paper are: 1) to develop a number of hypotheses concerning technological learning; 2) to provide some detailed information on how, in practice, firms may learn about technology; 3) to argue that in turbulent competitive and technological circumstances technological learning is a critical element of firm strategy, and should be a focus of management concern. A number of process by which the strategy is realized are described, including: investment of considerable resources in R&D, and efforts to increase its creativity; extensive academic links of various forms; and considerable emphasis placed on accessing and disseminating information. |
