Abstract:Foreign firms must learn to obviate the difficulties presented by the extremely convoluted nature of the multitiered Japanese distribution channels. Instead of the traditional strategies employed by many companies struggling to sell products in Japan, firms must learn how to penetrate the Japanese market not by cracking it, but by circumventing it altogether just as some have already done.
