Abstract:A study of 85 university professors, 46 secondary education teachers and 75 business executives identified 25 areas of competence which these respondents believe should be taught at the secondary level. Five areas of competence were considered crucial to the secondary level curriculum: (1) understand major trade regions in the world; (2) understand different world economic systems; (3) understand impact of cultures on business practice; (4) identify impact of geography on international trade; and (5) understand reasons for exporting or importing.
