Abstract:This article reports the major findings of a masterate research project investigating the factors that affect implementation of ISO 9000 in New Zealand industry. Both positive and negative factors emerge from the research. The article identifies principles that facilitate the implementation of ISO 9000. In the 1990s many companies realized that quality was a major strategic issue in terms of its ability to serve as a powerful marketing strategy and a tool for product and process improvement.
