Abstract: | The essence of business process reengineering, or BPR, is the total overhaul of a corporation. It is not the sum total of individually scattered continuous improvements. It is revolutionary, not evolutionary, and is linked to a guiding overall vision of the reengineered corporation. In its pure form, BPR represents a radical change in the strategic and operational ways in which the firm functions. Embraced by academics and executives as a way of setting a company back on the right path to competitiveness, it has seen triumphs and successes to varying degrees. |
