Abstract:Royal Dutch/Shell should be sitting on the top of the world by all usual measures. The oil giant is sitting on $12.4 billion in cash with no intention how to invest. Shell chairman Cornelius Herkströter wants to create a fast, flexible, environmentally aware organization that runs more efficiently , is more innovative, and is capable of moving Shell into profitable new businesses. There is no idea or thought that would be untouchable right now. Noel Tichy, an American consultant says Shell is only at the beginning. Act 1 is recognizing the need for change, act 2 is crafting the vision, and act 3 is reactivating the organization.
