Abstract: | This article discusses a research analyzing the knowledge work undertaken by the executives of top management teams in 10 organizations, based on three methods: 1. in-depth interviews with each member of the respective executive teams, 2. direct observation of management board meetings, 3. scrutiny of secondary sources. It is found that knowing what the managers were expected to know and knowing when and how to change an interpretive schema were found especially difficult for them. In addition, there was contention related to their knowledge on business models, strategy, organizational performance and organizational design. |
