Abstract:Evidence from around the world addresses that destination-spesific film and television can increase tourism demand. Excellent example is the Isle of Mull, Scotland, where in 2003 a new phenomenon "toddler tourism" developed by the popular pre-school television programme Balamory filmed on the island. This study takes a look at tourism business operators on Mull and provides evidence of the nature and scope of the impact of television-induced tourism on tourism business performance and activity. Findings show that media imagery can offer great marketing opportunities but it also creates problems.
