Abstract:Even if being market leaders at home, British companies have achieved mixed success overseas. The paper devises a matrix to examine their success. The matrix combines global market share and international revenues to identify the industry segments in which British companies are powering overseas. Companies can move up the matrix by increasing the international share of revenues and by increasing their global market share, by adding new countries or by trying to increase the share in existing countries. The methodology can be used to analyse companies in other countries.
